Workshop Description

A family film screening by Environmental Films Australia at Chiltern's historic Star Theatre, as part of the Off Grid Pop Up Cinema. Film screening: Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs (2019) When the local park is threatened to be destroyed and replaced with skyscrapers by greedy city businessmen, young Mimmi is let down as the adults around her (including her retired-pirate father) refuse to stand in the way of progress to help her protect her favourite tree. Joining forces with her cousin Jacob, who may or may not have something to do with the skyscrapers’ creation, and a pack of talking (yes, talking!) dogs, Mimmi discovers that sometimes to make a change, standing up and taking action can make all the difference. Recommended for the young (age 6+ but younger are welcome), the young at heart and anyone looking for something a little more wholesome, this beautifully animated film is the perfect tonic to climate anxieties – absurdly witty, joyously illustrated, and a delight to behold.
